Your roof is your first level of protection when it comes to the weather. Here in central Texas, we may not have a need to remove snow off our roofs but there are several things that you can do to your roof this winter to make sure that it is still in great condition in the months and years to come. It is important to take care of your roof before bigger issues occur. Here is a list of things that you can do for your roof:

If you know of or notice a leak in your home, the best thing you can do is to get it fixed as soon as possible. Don’t just grab a piece of duct tape and wait until it’s warmer. This could fail and lead to bigger problems down the road. If you are going to have it done professionally, you will have to pay a little out of pocket but it will be cheaper now than it will when you have to replace a whole portion of your roof or get mold removed from the attic.

Damaged Shingles

While the weather is nice, take a pair of binoculars and check out your roof. If you notice any damaged or missing shingles, get them repaired and replaced as soon as you can. It is a quick fix and can save you a lot of hassle and money if we were to get a big rain, wind or even snow storm. If there is a bigger issue with the shingles, do your best to tie a tarp around the area so that it is protected while you are waiting for TM Restoration to make a visit.

There are a lot of people who won’t give their chimney a second thought until something goes wrong. However, peeling paint around the chimney is one of the leading causes of leaks inside the home. If you are up on the roof anyway, it is a great time to take a peek around the chimney. Check for loose bricks, chipped paint and anything else that looks suspicious.

If you think you are in need of roof repair, call TM Restoration so that we can come out and take a look before a bigger issue occurs.
